Opening Day
Opening Day takes place on the Monday of the Victoria Day weekend in May. It is the official opening of the club and the start of another year of lawn bowling after the end of the winter season. It is an opportunity for our bowlers to warm up the greens and then socialize with cake and refreshments.
Spider Bowls are conducted by placing a tooney on a jack in the center of the green. Those who have made a donation stand near the edge of the green with a bowl. At a given signal, everyone bowls a single bowl towards the jack. The owner of the bowl closest to the tooney gets the tooney. The owner of the bowl closest to the jack gets a looney. The remaining donations are turned over to our charity, the War Amps and CHAMPS program. The donations support their valuable programs for war and accident amputees. We urge you to support them through this fun activity.
