The Regina Lawn Bowling Club relies on members to volunteer for various tasks during the season to ensure it maintains itself as a viable organization.  The more support we receive from our members, the less stressful and demanding is the time and commitment made by others. All volunteers will receive direction and instructions from the director in charge.
 
The following is a brief description of the various areas where volunteers are required:

Ditch Guy - Individuals are needed to clean the ditches of weeds, leaves, tree seeds, grass and garbage.  Depending on the volume and what it is, you may have to bag them.  The cleaning is done as needed.  The sand should be leveled once completed and periodically as needed.  One person is needed for each green.
 
Grass Cutter - Individuals are needed to cut the grass on the grounds using a riding mower or a push mower.  A weed wacker is used to edge around the backboards, light standards, sprinkler heads, bushes, trees and fence lines.  You do this once every three weeks as part of a three member crew.
 
Plug Remover - Individuals are needed every time the greens are aerated to rake and remove the plugs from the greens.  Greens are aerated once or twice a year.
 
Top Dresser - Individuals are required after aerating to top dress the greens.  Tasks included loading the sand on to the gator and others to spread the sand on the greens.
 
Weed Picker - Individuals are required throughout the year to pick and bag weeds on the grounds.  Ask the Grounds Director what needs to be done.
 
Grounds Assistant - Individuals are required to assist with various maintenance and cleanup activities on the grounds.  These activities will be coordinated and supervised by the Grounds Director.
 
Tarping Assistant - Our greens are tarped in the fall and removed in the spring.  Individuals are needed to assist with putting on the tarps and removing them usually in one day in the fall and spring.  In the fall the tasks are moving the tarps from storage to the greens, rolling them out and staking them in place. Some easier tasks in the fall are cutting ribbons and tying the ribbons on the stakes.  In the spring the tasks include removing the stakes, storing the stakes, rolling up the tarps, transporting the tarps to the storage area and storing them.
 
Garbage Disposer - Individuals are required on a periodic, as needed basis to take the garbage bags from the cart behind the equipment shed and place them in the club's garbage bin in the parking lot.
 
Cleanup Day Helper - Individuals are needed to clean up the grounds and to spring clean the clubhouse.  This is usually done the first Saturday in May each year.
 
Clubhouse Cleaner - Individuals are required to do housekeeping tasks in the clubhouse for one week period(s).  Tasks will be identified by the Housekeeping Director.
 
Catering Assistant - Individuals are required to do various tasks for special club events.  Tasks could include ordering or making food, setting out food, cleanup after the event, doing dishes, etc.  The Catering Director will coordinate the required tasks.
 
Cleanup Crew - Individuals are required after special club events and/or group booking events to help with various tasks.  Tasks include putting chairs and tables back into storage, collecting garbage, sweeping floors, etc.
 
Bartender - Individuals are required to collect money and disburse drinks at special club events where the club has obtained a liquor permit.  Money collected is counted and given to the Treasurer.
 
Ticket Seller - Individuals are required to sell tickets (50/50, raffle, etc.) at special club events.  Money collected is to be counted, winnings given to the winners, if necessary and the remainder is counted and given to the Treasurer.
 
Drawmaster - Individuals are required to do this for special club events.  Tasks include making teams, assigning opposition, writing up scorecards and announcing the games to be played.
 
Greens Setter - Individuals are required to set up rinks for special club events and/or provincial tournaments.  The green(s), # of rinks required and color to be used will be provided.
 
Group Bookings Assistant - Individuals are required to assist with school, community and corporate group bookings.  Tasks include helping participants get their bowls, directing them where they will play, assisting or reminding them of how to play and ensuring participants return their bowls to storage when finished.  Sometimes you will also be required to set up the rinks, including groundsheets.  All these volunteers are required by Bowls Canada and Bowls Sask to take a Respect in Sport online course.

Youth Program – Assist with the coaching and supervision of youth bowlers on Wednesday evenings.
 
Bowls Buddy – Be a mentor to a new bowler by assisting them in learning about club procedures and rules.  Help a first year bowler to get comfortable at the club and to encourage them to participate in club activities.
