Things to do in Regina:
  • Stone Hall Castle
Welcome to Regina, home to Canada’s only Medieval-style castle. The history surrounding this castle is as intriguing as its original owner. It is a little known fact that the original Darke residence, located where the Hotel Saskatchewan stands today, was damaged during the devastating cyclone of 1912, which tore a path through downtown Regina. Legend has it that his beloved wife Annie was so shaken by that event that she pleaded with him to build a home where she could feel safe again. If it weren’t for this natural disaster, this castle would probably never have been built.  In his early sixties, with the children all grown, Darke set out to build his Annie her fortress. He resolved to use the most durable building materials to withstand Prairie cyclones. With cost being no concern for the wealthy Darke, he imported the exact limestone used on the Regina Legislative Building – an action unheard of in its time for a local residence – and work began. In 1926, Darke, with the help of the finest masons, carpenters and artisans of his time, delivered on his promise to his beloved Annie and presented her with a  solid stone fortress complete with stone roof and  bomb shelter in the basement.
  • Wascana Centre and Legislative Building
Wascana Centre is known internationally as a beautifully landscaped park surrounding a 120-hectare lake located in the heart of the City of Regina. Wascana Centre is home to numerous important buildings such as the Saskatchewan Legislative Building and hosts more than 2,000 events a year ranging from charity runs & walks, cultural celebrations, to the annual Canada Day festivities.
  • RCMP Heritage Centre
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) have been an integral part of Canada's historical and cultural landscape since 1873, helping to form and protect our great nation, and playing a significant role in creating the Canadian identity. Situated on the doorstep of RCMP Academy, "Depot" Division in Regina, Saskatchewan, where Mounties have trained since 1885, the RCMP Heritage Centre is appropriately located where the tradition begins. The Centre brings to life the incredible story of the RCMP and its role in the development of Canada using state of the art exhibits, multimedia technologies, and engaging programming and tours.
  • Saskatchewan Science Centre and IMAX Theatre
The Saskatchewan Science Centre encourages experiments, surprises you with stage shows, wows you with workshops and has the province's only 3D IMAX Theatre!
  • Royal Saskatchewan Museum
Since 1906. Explore Saskatchewan and your world - the past, the present, and the future - as never before. We are a natural history museum offering life and earth sciences, as well as aboriginal history.
  • Government House
Now open to visitors, this was once home to lieutenant-governors of Canada's Northwest Territories.
  • MacKenzie Art Gallery
The MacKenzie Art Gallery is Saskatchewan’s oldest and most compelling public art gallery, offering original exhibitions of works by local national and international artists. An interactive and creative space, it provides educational programs and free public tours for people of all ages. Spanning over 100,000 square feet, our multi-facility hosts an art conservation lab, the BMO Learning Centre, Enbridge Young Artists Studio, Taylor Automotive Engagement Space, Gallery Shop, Shumiatcher Theatre, and a variety of rental spaces for meetings and events. The MacKenzie's vault is home to its permanent collection of more than 4,500 works by internationally renowned artists such as Picasso, Rodin, and Edvard Munch, as well as an impressive Canadian collection with pieces by Greg Curnoe, Joyce Wieland, Dorothy Knowles, the Regina Five, Joe Fafard, Bob Boyer and many others.
